Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation to Celebrate 11th Annual Irish Jersey Raffle March 15, 2017

SYDNEY, N.S – This Wednesday, March 15th marks the eleventh annual Cape Breton Screaming Eagles’ Irish Jersey Raffle in support of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles will be sporting their custom designed green, Irish-themed jerseys, which are to be raffled off in support of the Cancer Patient Care Fund.

During the game, fans will be able to purchase tickets for a chance to win one of the green jerseys. Tickets are only $5 each and will be available only at Centre 200. The winning tickets will be drawn during the third period and the winners will join the Eagles on the ice.

“The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and their fans have supported this amazing event with enthusiasm for eleven years,” says Brad Jacobs, CEO, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. “Their commitment to the Regional Hospital Foundation, to excellence in healthcare and to the community is overwhelming. We can’t thank the fans, the Screaming Eagles, and the generous sponsors enough.”

This fundraiser is in memory of Greg Lynch. Greg, a community-minded man, was a hockey lover and leaves a great legacy with this event. To date, we have raised more than $121,000 thanks to the support of the fans and sponsors: S & M Trucking, Cape Breton Beverages and Ron May Au­­­­­­to Group.

In celebration of 10 years of the Irish Jersey Raffle, we have special limited edition player cards, provided by City Printers. Cards will be available for the first 300 raffle ticket buyers.

One hundred percent of proceeds from the raffle stay in Cape Breton to support the Cancer Patient Care Fund to support patients in the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. This fund helps offset the financial difficulties related cancer by covering the cost of prescriptions, medical travel and other financial concerns for cancer patients. To date, the hospital foundation has disbursed $230,704.25 to Cape Bretoners in need of this fund.

Since 1992, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, in partnership with the community has raised more than $38 million to purchase equipment, and fund upgrades at the Regional Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of the community, the foundation has been able to purchase priority equipment which provides world-class care, closer to home.
