Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation Celebrates Partnership with Glace Bay General Hospital Charitable Foundation

SYDNEY, N.S – The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, along with the Glace Bay General Hospital Charitable Foundation, is pleased to announce a newly signed working relationship between the two entities.

As healthcare needs in Cape Breton continue to grow, both organizations have expressed interest in initiating a formal partnership agreement which is focused on major gift and priority equipment fundraising.

Today marks the first day of the formal relationship between the two Foundations, as Glace Bay General and the Regional Hospital signed a partnership agreement, which will see the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation provide leadership for joint fundraising efforts, for both the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation’s current $10.5 million “We All Have Reasons to Give” campaign, as well as, priority equipment fundraising for the Glace Bay General Hospital.

“This is an exciting opportunity for both Foundations involved,” says Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation Board of Directors Chair, Marlene Usher. “We are looking forward to working alongside community members, donors, and volunteers in Glace Bay to provide quality care for patients.”

Over the last few years, as the fundraising landscape in Cape Breton has continued to change, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation has focused its attention on partnership development through its strategic plan. Partnership development is an important building block to ensure success in the evolution of the charitable sector.

“We are very excited to partner with the volunteer Foundation at the Glace Bay General Hospital. The Cape Breton Regional Hospital supports patients from communities across Cape Breton, and we are looking forward to working with the Glace Bay community and their donors,” says Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation CEO, Brad Jacobs.

Chair of the Glace Bay General Hospital Charitable Foundation, Fred Courtney, along with his board executives have worked with the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation staff over the last number of months to ensure the best possible outcomes for both healthcare sites.

“As a volunteer committee, we are pleased to join forces with the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, who have the ability to sustain and grow the funds at our hospital in Glace Bay. As many of our community members use both sites, we feel this partnership is the best decision to provide world-class care to patients,” expresses Fred Courtney.

This partnership agreement is the second for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation; a partnership was signed between the Regional Foundation and the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital Charitable Foundation in the spring of 2015. With this partnership agreement, the Foundations are able to provide clear direction for priorities and needs. Working together, with a shared vision of helping one another, the goal is to raise more money for healthcare in Cape Breton.
